Garment Technologist – Womenswear / Wovens
London | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Benefits
💎 Our client is seeking an experienced Garment Technologist to join their established Technical team, working across key woven womenswear categories within a successful contemporary fashion business.
💎 This is a varied and hands-on technical role where you will take responsibility for the commercial and technical evaluation of garment fit, managing key woven categories and leading regular fit sessions in partnership with Design and Buying.
💎 You will evaluate garment construction, fit and quality throughout the development process, producing clear and accurate technical comments, graded size specifications and fit amendments to ensure products are fit for purpose and meet creative, customer and commercial requirements.
💎 Working closely with suppliers and the wider Buying, Design and Technical teams, you will manage test reports, garment and fabric risk assessments, wearer trials and technical documentation, while ensuring any issues affecting cost or the critical path are communicated and resolved effectively.
💎 Supplier and factory relationships will form an important part of the position. You will work collaboratively with the supply base throughout development and production, contributing to factory evaluations and audits and helping to maintain high standards of product quality, compliance and Corporate Social Responsibility.
💎 The role will also support the business's sustainability strategy, including maintaining certification records, supplier mapping and working alongside the Technical and CSR teams to deliver ongoing sustainability objectives.
💎 Alongside your day-to-day technical responsibilities, you will review returns and customer feedback, undertake competitor and store research and contribute ideas that improve products, processes and ways of working.
💎 The ideal candidate will be an experienced wovens specialist with at least 5 years' experience, with strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabric performance and the technical development process within womenswear fashion.
You will need strong analytical and numerical skills, a good working knowledge of Excel and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be highly organised, commercially aware and confident managing competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
The ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams is essential, along with a proactive and collaborative approach. You will also need to be comfortable travelling overseas to factories when required.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established fashion business offering a competitive salary, good benefits and a generous employee product discount.
